A wonderful evening of fellowship and camaraderie at the BCFPHN Annual Union meeting and dinner was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Pappas Restaurant in Parkville. Kenya Campbell, AFT Maryland President & Janell Edmonds, AFT Maryland Organizer were in attendance, as well as our Union Vice-President Beverly Grace and Union Secretary Debbie Torres. Our Union President Patricia Branum was out of town for a family matter, so she was unable to be present physically, but was present in spirit and composed our meeting agenda. A total of nine members came out in show of unity.
Kenya spoke eloquently about the AFT’s role and her participation and dedication to our Union. Janell was her sweet, bubbly self who reiterated our Union’s need for its members to be more involved, to include attending meetings, and voicing our ideas and concerns.
A review of our annual agenda and prior meeting minutes were discussed, feedback was requested, and suggestions were shared. We had raffle drawings which made those winning members smile extra big that evening. To top it off, we had a spectacular choice of various pastries for dessert.
Our Union dinner was excellent and gave us all time to unwind, share our thoughts in a candid way, and express our future goals. We look forward to our next annual Union meeting and dinner in 2026, and we are hopeful more member participation will occur.
Alone we can do little, but together we can do much more. In the words of Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success.”
